Martin County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Tiger Woods was taken into custody following a rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida, on Friday, March 27, 2026.[1]
Sheriff John Budensiek stated at a press conference that Woods' vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, collided with another car, and rolled over onto the driver's side. Woods exited by crawling through the passenger side.[1]
Investigators observed signs of impairment. Woods registered zero for alcohol on a breathalyzer test but refused a urine test. He faces charges of driving under the influence, property damage, and refusal to submit to a lawful test.[1]
Woods, a U.S. professional golfer born December 30, 1975, has won 15 major championships, including the Masters Tournament five times (1997, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2019).[2]
He resides in the Jupiter area of Florida and is associated with Jupiter Links Golf Club in the TGL league. Woods underwent multiple back surgeries and was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in February 2021.[2]
In professional events since his tied ninth at the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open, Woods' best major finish has been tied 37th at the 2020 PGA Championship. He has no top-20 finishes in majors played since his 2019 Masters victory, his longest such streak since the first six majors of his career in 1995-1996.[2]
In 2024, Woods made five starts on the PGA Tour: he withdrew from the Genesis Invitational, finished 60th at the Masters, and missed the cut at the PGA Championship and Open Championship while withdrawing from the U.S. Open.[2]
The Masters Tournament is scheduled to begin April 9, 2026, at Augusta National Golf Club.[2]
