Robert Griffin III invited to USA flag football training camp

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has received an invitation to Team USA flag football training games as the team prepares for the 2026 International Federation of American Football World Championships. The one-time Pro Bowler, who played eight seasons with the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, now works as an ESPN analyst. Griffin aims to earn a spot on the roster for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where flag football debuts.

First training camp runs April 16-19, followed by a second session May 21-24. A selection committee will then reduce the roster from 24 to 18 players for a June camp before naming the final 12 for the championships August 13-16 in Germany. Griffin told TMZ Sports his immediate target is the Worlds squad, where Team USA remains undefeated under quarterback Darrell Doucette III and holds the title of five-time reigning champion.

Griffin said, "That is the goal, and we’ve already taken the first step in that process. ... But in 2028, I’ve already put that and said that is the goal. I want to go for gold with Team USA."

Doucette recently led Team USA to wins over NFL players in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. Griffin emphasized respecting the process and the flag football community while pursuing his Olympic ambitions.
