Gophers QB Lindsey Booked on Fake ID, Underage Alcohol Charges
Minnesota Golden Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey faces charges of underage possession of alcohol and possession of fraudulent identification after an arrest in his hometown of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Authorities booked the 20-year-old shortly after 1 a.m. Friday and released him on bond seven hours later. Bar staff near the University of Arkansas campus alerted police to a possible fake ID, which Lindsey admitted using, according to Fayetteville police cited in media reports.
Lindsey has court appearances scheduled for June 1 and June 29. The Gophers athletic department stated it is aware of the incident and will handle it internally. Players remain on break following the conclusion of spring practices last weekend.
The Fayetteville native spurned recruitment interest from his local Razorbacks to join Minnesota. As a redshirt freshman in 2025, Lindsey started all 13 games, completing 249 of 386 passes for 2,382 yards with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. His performance helped the Gophers to an 8-5 record and set a freshman program mark for victories.
Minnesota prepares for the offseason after Lindsey's breakout campaign.
